In Guwahati, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat encouraged young attendees to critically examine the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh without the influence of biased narratives. He spoke to over a hundred young delegates at a leadership conference, detailing the Sangh’s principles and addressing current discussions surrounding it. Bhagwat highlighted the Indian ethos of respecting multiple perspectives, noting that losing diversity leads to a weakening of cultural identity, using the example of Punjabi and Sindhi communities in Pakistan. He firmly stated that Hindu society is uniquely positioned to champion diversity and that the RSS aims to foster such a society. For societal progress, Bhagwat believes character development is paramount, exceeding the impact of laws in combating corruption. He also pointed out that cow protection requires public awareness to be truly effective, complementing legal efforts. Shifting to international relations, Bhagwat called for an ‘India First’ foreign policy, where national interests dictate decisions rather than alignment with or opposition to nations like the US or China. He posited that by securing its own interests, India ultimately contributes to global well-being and plays a crucial role in maintaining international peace and cooperation.
