At the Dubai Airshow 2025, Russia has orchestrated its most ambitious international defense exposition ever, showcasing a record number of full-scale weapon systems. This strategic presentation highlights Moscow’s intent to strengthen its defense industry ties in the Middle East amidst a dynamic global military landscape. The Russian pavilion prominently features advanced airpower, cutting-edge missile technologies, unmanned platforms, and sophisticated electronic warfare (EW) systems.
The global defense market is anticipated to surpass $800 billion within the next decade, with the Middle East identified as a primary growth driver. ROSOBORONEXPORT, Russia’s state agency for defense exports, is leading the national delegation at the event, which occupies a substantial 1,000-square-meter area, symbolizing Russia’s expanding influence in the aerospace and defense sectors.
This comprehensive exhibit unites the capabilities of major Russian defense conglomerates such as the United Aircraft Corporation and the Radio-Electronic Technologies Concern. Attendees can view over 850 defense products, including more than 30 key systems presented in their full size. The lineup is headlined by the Su-57E fifth-generation stealth fighter, alongside a diverse array of advanced missiles, modern drones, and robust air defense networks.
The Su-57E, Russia’s export version of its premier stealth fighter, is set for its Middle Eastern debut during the airshow’s flight demonstrations. Countries in the region, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE, are actively seeking next-generation aerial capabilities. Russia is promoting the Su-57E as a strategic acquisition, offering significant technology transfer opportunities that could foster local aerospace development. Partnership packages, encompassing licensed manufacturing and component production, are reportedly valued at $5-7 billion.
The static display of the Su-57E includes its internal weapons complement, featuring air-to-air missiles like the RVV-MD2 and RVV-BD, as well as air-to-surface munitions such as the Kh-38MLE, Kh-69, Grom-E1, and Kh-58UShKE. These weapons underscore the fighter’s versatility for multi-domain operations, positioning it as a formidable rival to Western stealth aircraft.
Beyond the Su-57E, Russia is also showcasing the IL-76MD-90A(E) heavy airlifter, renowned for its payload capacity and extended range. The Yak-130M, a light combat and trainer aircraft with updated avionics and expanded weaponry, is making its global debut. The versatile Ka-52 attack helicopter will also be featured in aerial displays, demonstrating its agility and combat effectiveness. Unmanned systems are a significant focus, with exhibits including the Orlan-10E and Orlan-30 reconnaissance UAVs, and the potent Lancet-E loitering munition. For the first time at the Dubai Airshow, Russia is exhibiting full-scale air defense systems like the Pantsir-SMD-E, designed to intercept drones and missiles.
