A significant anti-Naxal operation in Sukma, Chhattisgarh, has resulted in the elimination of three Maoists carrying a combined bounty of Rs 15 lakh. The clash occurred Sunday morning in the Tumalpad village forest, a sensitive border area between Bhejji and Chintagufa police stations. Security forces were alerted by specific intelligence reports about Maoist activity and swiftly launched a combing operation.
Officials identified the neutralized cadres as Madvi Deva (Area Committee Member), Podiam Gangi (CNM Commander), and Sodhi Gangi (Kistaram Area Committee Member). The encounter involved a sustained gun battle, after which the bodies of the three Naxalites, two of whom were female, were found. A thorough search of the location yielded a substantial recovery of arms and ammunition, including advanced weaponry like Barrel Grenade Launchers (BGLs), a 303 rifle, and VGA launchers. The Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range, noted that search operations are ongoing and emphasized the increasing pressure on Naxal groups. This incident adds to the growing number of Naxalites neutralized this year in the Bastar region, highlighting the state’s determination to combat left-wing extremism.
