Chhattisgarh experienced a major security success on Tuesday as six Naxalites were killed in a fierce encounter with security forces in Bijapur district. The operation commenced around 10 am in the Indravati National Park region when a combined unit of police, including the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF), was actively pursuing leads on senior Maoist cadres. The confrontation escalated into a prolonged firefight, with intermittent exchanges occurring for an extended period. Authorities reported that after the engagement subsided, a thorough search of the encounter zone revealed the bodies of six Naxalites. They were found in possession of sophisticated weaponry, such as an INSAS rifle, sten guns, a .303 rifle, and various explosive materials. Additional security units, including the CRPF and CAF, were dispatched to reinforce the cordon and prevent the escape of any remaining militants. The Chief Minister praised the bravery of the security personnel, reiterating the state’s resolve to eliminate Naxalism. This latest development adds to the growing number of Naxalites neutralized in Chhattisgarh this year.
