In a potent display of military prowess, the Indian Army’s Southern Command conducted ‘Exercise Maru Jwala’ in the desert terrains of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. This large-scale event served as a critical segment of the ongoing Tri-Services Exercise Trishul, effectively demonstrating the Army’s preparedness and coordinated operational strength.
Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, Southern Command Chief, emphasized that Maru Jwala was the concluding phase of extensive two-month training initiatives undertaken by the Sudarshan Chakra Corps. This elite strike corps has been diligently honing its skills in the region.

Key participants comprised the Shahbaz Division, a rapid unit; the Southern Command’s Aviation Brigade; the EW Brigade; and a Para-SF Battalion. Lieutenant General Seth pointed to the 7th Para Battalion and Airborne Battalion as crucial ‘pathfinders’ and the ‘ultimate strategic force’ whose efforts were exemplified during the exercise.
Reflecting on the Army’s modernization drive, Lieutenant General Seth lauded the troops for their commitment and skill in integrating modern weaponry and systems.
