New Delhi has responded forcefully to Pakistan’s allegations linking India to a deadly suicide attack in Islamabad, labeling the accusations as a ‘desperate diversionary ploy.’ An MEA spokesperson dismissed the claims as ‘baseless and unfounded,’ asserting that Pakistan’s leadership is resorting to fabricating false narratives to distract its populace from significant internal political developments. The spokesperson highlighted that this is a well-worn strategy for Pakistan, particularly when facing domestic challenges. The explosion in Islamabad’s judicial complex, which resulted in 12 fatalities and 36 injuries, was characterized by Pakistani officials as a suicide bombing. Despite the lack of any claimed responsibility for the blast, Pakistan’s Prime Minister has continued to point fingers at India, alleging state-sponsored terrorism intended to destabilize the country. This accusation follows closely on the heels of a fatal explosion in the Indian capital. The Pakistani Interior Minister has indicated that efforts are underway to identify the perpetrator of the Islamabad attack.
