The ceremony, held at the esteemed Tashichhodzong, was imbued with the resonant chants of local monks, creating an atmosphere of deep reverence. The precious relics, originating from India, are presently enshrined at the Grand Kuenrey Hall within Tashichhodzong. Their exhibition in Bhutan is a special gesture of goodwill from India, honoring the Fourth King’s 70th birthday and the Global Peace Prayer Festival. This act further solidifies the profound historical and cultural relationship between the two Himalayan nations.
During the ceremony, both leaders engaged in prayer before the sacred relics. The Ministry of External Affairs shared that the prayers were accompanied by the melodic chants of monks, underscoring the significance of this shared religious experience. Prime Minister Modi’s relationship with Bhutan is marked by a strong history of engagement. The conferral of the Order of the Druk Gyalpo, Bhutan’s highest civilian award, upon Prime Minister Modi during his last visit, signifies the exceptional relationship and mutual respect between the two countries and leaders.
