Blessing Muzarabani, Zimbabwe’s premier fast bowler, has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I tri-series in Pakistan due to a persistent back injury. Zimbabwe Cricket confirmed that Newman Nyamhuri has been named as his replacement in the squad.
The tournament, featuring Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the Chevrons, is scheduled to run from November 17 to November 29 in Lahore. Muzarabani’s absence will undoubtedly be felt by the Zimbabwean team as they prepare to face strong opposition.
Newman Nyamhuri, a young prospect, is yet to make his debut in the shortest format of international cricket. He has represented Zimbabwe in four Tests and four ODIs, picking up six wickets in Tests and three in ODIs. His domestic T20 record shows five wickets from four matches with an economy of 7.
This is the sole change made to the Zimbabwe squad following their recent 0-3 T20I series loss against Afghanistan. Muzarabani participated in the initial match against Afghanistan, taking two wickets, before the back issue forced him out of the latter part of that series and now this upcoming one.
