In a significant breakthrough, the Barkatha Police in Hazaribagh district have arrested six criminals involved in demanding ten lakh rupees in ransom from a rural doctor. The arrested individuals are Naved Khan alias Golu Khan, Salman Ansari, Abul Ansari, Afsar Ansari, Alok Kumar, and Satyam Kumar. Authorities recovered a country-made pistol, eight live bullets, a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle (JH 02 AL-4873), and six mobile phones. The investigation began after Dr. Ghulam Rabbani reported receiving threatening calls on October 30th from the number 6291285513, demanding a substantial sum. The perpetrators further escalated their intimidation tactics by firing at the doctor’s vehicle on November 6th, which was parked in his home’s parking area. Promptly filing a case at the Barkatha Police Station, authorities launched a swift investigation. Under the direct supervision of Superintendent of Police Anjani Anjan and led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Barhi Sub-division, a dedicated task force was assembled. This special team, working in conjunction with Barkatha and Gorhar Police Stations, conducted a series of targeted raids. All six accused were apprehended along with the incriminating weapon and ammunition used in the crime. The suspects have reportedly admitted to their criminal actions. Preliminary inquiries also suggest a potential link to similar extortion activities in Tatijharia Police Station jurisdiction, employing the identical mobile number for their illicit demands.
