Sukma district in Chhattisgarh witnessed a dangerous Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion on Sunday, resulting in injuries to a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan. The blast, believed to be triggered by a pressure IED planted by Naxalites, took place at approximately 1:45 PM in the hilly, forested terrain near Gogunda, under the Fulbagdi police station. The CRPF jawan, attached to the 74th Battalion, was on an area domination mission when he accidentally activated the device. His leg injuries necessitated urgent medical attention. He received preliminary first aid on-site and was subsequently transported by air to Raipur for advanced medical care. Such IED attacks are a known tactic employed by Maoists in the interior areas of the Bastar region to disrupt security operations and inflict harm on personnel. The region has seen previous incidents, including a fatal IED blast in June that claimed the life of an Additional Superintendent of Police.
