Bihar’s upcoming elections will see the NDA campaign with its ‘Sankalp Patra’, a manifesto packed with promises designed to transform the state. The alliance has committed to creating more than one crore government job opportunities for the state’s burgeoning youth population. Recognizing the need for social equity, the manifesto includes a significant financial assistance package of Rs 10 lakh for individuals from Extremely Backward Classes (EBC), along with the formation of a high-level commission to oversee their welfare.
The economic agenda emphasizes industrial expansion, proposing the establishment of 10 new industrial parks and district-level factories to boost local economies. A key pledge targets women’s economic independence with the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ program, aiming to uplift one crore women. The agricultural sector will see increased support, with the annual Kisan Samman Nidhi rising to Rs 9,000 and a commitment to MSP for all agricultural produce.
Transformative infrastructure projects are on the horizon, including the development of international airports in four key cities: Patna, Darbhanga, Purnia, and Bhagalpur. Urban mobility is set to improve with the introduction of metro rail services in Patna, Gaya, Purnia, and Bhagalpur. In education, the NDA plans to open residential schools for SC/ST students, offer monthly stipends for higher education, enhance mid-day meals with breakfast, and establish a medical college in each district. Social welfare measures encompass financial aid for SC/EBC communities, the construction of new homes, subsidized electricity, and expanded pension schemes.
