Panic gripped the Gola Basti area of Sonari police station in East Singhbhum on Monday night as a massive fire broke out at a scrap yard. The sudden inferno created a terrifying spectacle, sending shockwaves through the community. Six fire fighting units were mobilized immediately and worked tirelessly for hours to extinguish the raging flames.
Initial reports suggest the fire might have originated from a spark from fireworks, quickly escalating due to the flammable materials present. The fire’s ferocity threatened adjacent residential structures, but the prompt arrival of emergency services contained the disaster. The estimated financial loss from the destroyed property is pegged at over five lakh rupees.
Community members expressed their relief that the fire department’s swift action prevented a potential catastrophe. They highlighted the grave risk of the fire spreading to nearby homes and causing significant harm if not for the rapid response. Area MLA Saryu Rai and his representative Neeraj Singh were on the scene to take stock of the relief efforts. The scrap yard owner confirmed receiving notification of the blaze late at night, following which authorities were alerted. The legislator’s intervention ensured a swift dispatch of fire services, significantly mitigating potential losses.
