Tragedy struck early Tuesday in West Singhbhum’s Jagannathpur police station jurisdiction when a motorcyclist lost his life in a hit-and-run incident. Ashish Laguri, aged 30, was fatally hit by an unidentified vehicle near Jaldihha village on the main road. The victim’s father is a resident of Sabil Tola Utubasud in Noamundi.
Residents of the affected area, angered by the fatal accident, immediately organized a road blockade to express their dissent and demand action. Upon receiving information, the Jagannathpur police, led by Station in-charge Avinash Hembrum, reached the spot and successfully de-escalated the situation, convincing the villagers to lift the blockade. The body has been sent for a post-mortem.
Authorities are actively pursuing leads to identify the driver and vehicle responsible for the accident. A formal complaint has been lodged against the unknown driver, and efforts are being made to gather evidence, including scrutinizing available CCTV footage, to ensure justice for the victim.
