Jamshedpur, India – Saryu Rai, the MLA for Jamshedpur West, was a prominent figure at several Jayaprakash Narayan Jayanti celebrations held across the city on Saturday. His participation spanned a ceremony at JP School in Sankosai, Mango, an event organized by the All India Kayastha Mahasabha in Mango, and a gathering hosted by the Janata Dal (United).
Addressing the attendees at the Janata Dal (United) event as the chief guest, Rai reflected on the transformative impact of the 1974 JP movement. He recalled a time when prevailing corruption and governmental overreach lacked a significant voice of opposition. It was then, Rai explained, that Jayaprakash Narayan mobilized the youth, initiating a nationwide call for ‘Sampurna Kranti’. The influence of his leadership, Rai noted, was so profound that it forced the ruling powers to take notice. He underscored that the JP movement was instrumental in awakening a new political consciousness and laid the foundation for the political journeys of many current senior politicians. Rai also shared his personal involvement in the movement, describing how he helped direct the youthful fervor of the time.
Participants at the JD(U) event included many senior party officials, dedicated workers, and social activists. They collectively pledged to uphold JP’s philosophy and renewed their commitment to achieving social justice and championing honest politics. The celebration culminated with powerful slogans of ‘Sampurna Kranti’.
