A man from Alwar, Rajasthan, identified as Mangat Singh, has been arrested for allegedly acting as a spy for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The 32-year-old was reportedly ensnared through a honey trap orchestrated by a female ISI operative using the alias ‘Isha Sharma.’ The Rajasthan Police’s CID Intelligence made the arrest, bringing Singh under the purview of the Official Secrets Act.
Singh’s downfall began with surveillance in Alwar’s cantonment zone, where his unusual behavior raised red flags. Subsequent investigations uncovered his two-year-long communication channel with ISI handlers, primarily through social media platforms. It is believed that Singh was enticed with monetary rewards for divulging classified information.
The intelligence unit’s ongoing ‘Operation Sindoor’ aims to thwart espionage activities in key areas. Alwar’s strategic location, being part of the NCR, makes it a prime target for intelligence gathering, and authorities have intensified their watch on suspicious activities, particularly around military installations.
The accused was taken into custody after a case was filed at the Special Police Station in Jaipur. This capture is part of a broader crackdown on espionage networks operating within the state. Previous arrests, such as that of Mahendra Prasad and Hanif Khan in Jaisalmer for similar offenses, underscore the persistent threat of foreign intelligence operations.
