Ahead of the Nobel Peace Prize announcement, President Donald Trump adopted a more reserved approach when discussing his potential win. While previously vocal about his desire for the award, Trump told reporters he remains unsure of the committee’s decision. Nevertheless, he used the moment to strongly promote his administration’s peace-making achievements. The President proudly stated he has ended ‘seven wars’ and anticipates a potential ceasefire in Gaza will bring the tally to eight. He detailed his involvement in averting a major conflict between India and Pakistan, describing it as a ‘very big, two nuclear nations’ situation. Trump revealed that he utilized trade tariffs as leverage, asserting, ‘I used tariffs to stop a nuclear conflict.’ He explained his rationale, stating that the imposition of 100% tariffs on both nations immediately halted hostilities. When pressed on his Nobel prospects, Trump deflected, saying, ‘Whatever they do is fine,’ but pivoted back to his self-proclaimed success in conflict resolution. He emphasized his commitment to saving lives, stating, ‘I know this: I didn’t do it for that. I did it because I saved a lot of lives,’ and highlighted his unprecedented record of ending multiple wars within his tenure.
