Full-size SUVs are gaining popularity due to their enhanced space and seating configurations. The Mahindra XUV 7OO and Tata Safari are currently the favored choices in this segment. However, several new SUVs from Honda, Renault, and Nissan are on the horizon, slated to arrive in the next 12-15 months, potentially challenging the established market presence of the XUV 7OO and Safari.
Honda’s 7-seater SUV is anticipated to be built on the new PF2 platform, offering versatility with petrol, strong-hybrid, and electric powertrain options. While it will feature three rows of seating, reports suggest it could be an extended version of the Elevate, providing a 7-seater arrangement with a larger overall size.
This SUV will be assembled locally at Honda’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. The engine options could include a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, similar to the one found in the Honda City and Honda Elevate. The top trim levels might incorporate Atkinson strong hybrid technology.
Renault is expected to introduce its new 7-seater SUV in India by the end of 2026. This model might be a 7-seater variant of the Duster SUV, and is expected to have a unique design, along with increased cabin space resulting from its larger dimensions.
Nissan India’s Managing Director, Saurabh Vatsa, has revealed plans for a premium D-segment SUV to debut in early 2027. This seven-seater SUV, equipped with three rows of seats, will be built upon a new mid-size SUV platform. Expect advanced features such as a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats, a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver display, and a dual-pane sunroof. Besides the option of a petrol engine and hybrid technology, the top-spec variant might also offer a 4×4 driving system.
