Today marks the launch of the Patna Metro, a project eagerly awaited by the city’s residents. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will officially inaugurate the first phase of the metro service. The inauguration will take place at 11 am from the metro station located near the Patliputra Bus Terminal depot, with the initial route covering Bhootnath to New ISBT.
The PMRC has finalized all operational preparations. Under Corridor One, the foundation stone for six underground stations, including Patna Junction, and a 9.35 km tunnel will also be laid. The metro coaches are uniquely adorned with Madhubani art, reflecting Bihar’s cultural legacy.
All coaches will feature images of prominent Bihar landmarks like Golghar, Mahavir Temple, the Mahabodhi Tree, the Buddha Stupa, and the Nalanda ruins, on the gates, windows, and interior sections.
