Former U.S. President Donald Trump indicated that the Gaza peace plan didn’t require any revisions because it had widespread support. Addressing the media before leaving the White House, Trump responded to inquiries about the Gaza plan, suggesting that all key decisions would be made in the next few days.
Trump stated that there weren’t many options available and flexibility wasn’t an issue, as consensus had been reached. He conceded that some adjustments were inevitable, but overall, the plan was excellent. He further commented that peace in the Middle East would be achieved for the first time in 3,000 years, and he was honored to contribute to it. He noted that negotiations were underway and expected a conclusion within a few days, bringing joy to many.
He emphasized the plan’s significance for Israel and the wider Arab and Muslim community, noting it was a ‘big deal.’ The White House mentioned in a post on X that positive discussions had occurred with Hamas and international partners, including Arab and Muslim countries, to free hostages, end the Gaza war, and, crucially, to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his anticipation for an announcement regarding the release of all hostages from Gaza within the coming days. Indirect talks are expected to be held in Egypt with Hamas to explore the new American plan aimed at ending the war. Netanyahu reported that he had dispatched a delegation to Egypt to settle technical details in a brief late-night message.
He also expressed the goal of concluding the discussions promptly. Netanyahu’s statement followed Hamas’s announcement of acceptance of certain terms of the American plan. President Trump welcomed Hamas’s statement, but he also warned on Saturday that Hamas needed to take prompt action, or risk losing the chance.
