Residents of Govindpur village in the Jari block of Chainpur subdivision are protesting the complete absence of electricity, which has persisted for three months. Villagers explained that the village transformer was damaged by a lightning strike, leading to the current blackout. The situation has left the village without power since the incident.
The villagers have repeatedly informed the electricity department about the issue, yet no action has been taken to either replace the damaged transformer or repair it. This inaction has led to widespread anger among the residents. The lack of electricity means homes are plunged into darkness every evening, disrupting the children’s education. Children are now forced to study using candles or oil lamps.
Additionally, the villagers are increasingly concerned about the growing threat of snakes and scorpions during the monsoon season. They believe the department’s inaction demonstrates a lack of concern from the district administration. The villagers are demanding immediate action, including the installation of a new transformer or repair of the existing one, to restore electricity to the village. The villagers are requesting urgent intervention from the department.
