The Election Commission of India (ECI) revealed its preparations for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections during a press conference. CEC Gyanesh Kumar indicated the elections will likely be held before the assembly’s dissolution on November 22, 2025. Key initiatives include 100% webcasting for transparency and the purification of voter lists, with praise for the booth-level officers’ efforts. The ECI is implementing several changes to enhance the voting process, including a limit of 1,200 voters per polling station. Aadhaar cards will be accepted for voter list inclusion. Candidates’ photographs on election documents will be in color. Postal ballots will be counted before the final two rounds of EVM counting. Digital index cards will be accessible post-election. New measures involve identity cards for booth-level officials and a mobile phone deposit system outside the booths. Ballot papers will feature larger serial numbers and color photographs of candidates. The CEC emphasized the importance of voter participation, encouraging citizens to view the elections as a celebration of democracy.
