A technical malfunction occurred on an Air India Dreamliner during a flight from Amritsar to Birmingham. The aircraft’s Ram Air Turbine (RAT) unexpectedly deployed near the end of the flight. This prompted the crew to initiate standard emergency procedures, resulting in a safe landing. The airline has taken the aircraft out of service for a thorough examination. As a consequence of this event, the flight from Birmingham to Delhi, AI114, was canceled. Air India is working to re-accommodate passengers. The purpose of a RAT is to provide emergency power and control in situations where the plane experiences electrical failure, hydraulic failure, or loss of both engines. Flight AI117 took off from Amritsar at 12:52 PM on October 4th and landed in Birmingham at 7:07 PM.
