A Hyderabad student, Chandrasekhar Pole, has tragically lost his life in Dallas, USA, after being shot at a gas station. The 27-year-old was working a part-time job when he was attacked by an unidentified assailant. His family is devastated and has appealed to the government for help in repatriating his remains to India.
Pole had arrived in the US in 2023 to pursue higher education. He held a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Hyderabad and had recently finished his master’s program, working at the gas station while searching for a full-time position.
The Indian Consulate General in Houston has stated its commitment to assisting Pole’s family and is closely monitoring the local investigation. The consulate conveyed its deep sorrow over the student’s death. Telangana’s Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also offered condolences and pledged governmental aid to the bereaved family.
BRS MLA Sudhir Reddy and former minister T. Harish Rao met with the family in Hyderabad to offer their support. Harish Rao shared the parents’ grief at the loss of their son. The necessary death certificate from the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office is awaited to begin the process of bringing the body back. The Dallas incident highlights the ongoing concerns over the safety of international students employed in part-time work, particularly those involved in late-night shifts.
This incident echoes previous tragedies. In January, another student from Telangana was murdered in Connecticut. Furthermore, incidents involving individuals from Telangana in the US, including a shooting in Ranga Reddy and a police shooting in California, add to the worries surrounding the safety of Indian nationals abroad.
