A significant event is set to unfold in Rajgir, Bihar, where Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will be present to distribute government job selection letters to 87 exceptional athletes. Furthermore, approximately 8 crore rupees will be allocated as खेल सम्मान राशि to a total of 812 athletes. The venue for this grand function will be the State Sports Academy in Rajgir, and the date is scheduled for October 5th.
Ravindran Shankaran, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Bihar State Sports Authority, confirmed the details of the event. This initiative falls under the Bihar government’s Medal Lao Naukri Pao scheme, which aims to recognize and support athletes. Under this scheme, 87 athletes who have achieved success in national and international sporting events this year will be awarded government job appointments. The 87 athletes who will be receiving the appointment letters include 39 female athletes and 48 male athletes.
The selected athletes will be appointed to various departments based on their skills and qualifications, ranging from Class 1 positions to other relevant categories. Among the selected athletes, 10 will be appointed as Police Sub-Inspectors in the 4200/- pay grade, with 8 of these positions going to female athletes. In addition, one athlete will be appointed as a Child Welfare Officer in the 5400/- pay grade, while 65 athletes will be appointed as Lower Division Clerks in the 1900-2000/- pay grade, and 11 will be appointed as office attendants.
In addition to job appointments, around 8 crore rupees (7,43,00,000/-) will be presented as खेल सम्मान राशि to 812 individuals, including athletes, coaches, sports associations, and officials who have excelled in 44 different sports at the national and international levels. This financial recognition is a part of the government’s effort to encourage and appreciate the achievements of these sports personalities.
The recipients of the खेल सम्मान राशि include 152 para-athletes, 631 athletes, 24 coaches, five sports associations, and one sports official. The total number of athletes in this distribution is 783, comprising 297 female and 486 male athletes. From 2022 up to the present year, the government has disbursed around 23.5 crore rupees in sports सम्मान राशि to 2085 outstanding athletes across Bihar.
