Snapchat users are facing changes regarding their Memories storage. The platform will now implement charges for storing over 5GB of content in its Memories feature. Initially introduced in 2016, Snapchat allowed free storage of photos and videos in Memories, where content is typically shared for just 24 hours. Users will now need to subscribe to a paid plan if they exceed the 5GB limit to continue accessing their saved content.
Snapchat explained that the growth of Memories exceeded initial expectations. To support users and allow them to keep their Memories, Snapchat is introducing new Memories Storage Plans. These plans offer 100GB or 250GB of storage. Users can access these plans by subscribing to the Snapchat+ monthly plan. The platform also provides a Platinum plan, which offers a 5TB storage capacity.
Here’s a breakdown of the Snapchat storage plans and pricing:
* 100GB storage plan: $1.99 per month (approximately Rs 165)
* Snapchat+ with 250GB storage: $3.99 per month (approximately Rs 330)
For users who choose not to subscribe, Snapchat provides a 12-month period of temporary storage after the free storage limit is exceeded. During this time, users can download their content or choose a paid subscription. To download Memories content to a device, follow these steps:
1. Launch the Snapchat app.
2. Navigate to ‘Memories’ by tapping the photo icon.
3. Long-press the Snap or Snaps you want to download.
4. Tap ‘Export’.
5. Select the desired location to save your Snap.
