Maruti Suzuki, one of India’s foremost automakers, demonstrated robust production growth in September 2025, achieving record numbers. The company’s total production reached 2,01,915 units, a substantial 26% increase from the 1,59,743 units produced in September 2024. This impressive growth was largely attributed to the increased demand during the festive season and efforts to meet the growing customer bookings.
The compact car segment experienced the most significant growth, driven by popular models such as the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, and Swift. The production volume for this segment reached 93,301 units, surpassing the 68,413 units recorded in September of the previous year. This indicates a continued preference for hatchbacks and compact sedans.
SUVs and MUVs also contributed significantly to the production increase. The production of vehicles like the Brezza, Ertiga, and Fronx rose by 27%, reaching 79,496 units compared to 62,752 units in the previous year.
Entry-level cars like the Alto and S-Presso saw a slight increase in production, reaching 12,318 units compared to 12,155 units the previous year. Additionally, the Eeco van saw its production rise to 13,201 units, up from 11,702 units. Maruti’s light commercial vehicle, the Super Carry, also performed well, with 3,599 units produced, which is an improvement over the 3,034 units made in September 2024.
Interestingly, there was no production of the premium sedan Ciaz during this period, unlike the 1,687 units produced in the same month last year.
Maruti Suzuki’s recent sales report showed total sales of 1,89,665 units in September 2025. However, domestic passenger vehicle sales decreased by 8%, reaching 1,32,820 units. The company explained that this decline was due to inventory management and preparations for the festive season.
