Russian authorities have expressed concern that steps taken by the Trump administration to assist Ukraine could lead to global catastrophe. They have specifically warned that the supply of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine would intensify the current conflict.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov highlighted that Moscow would consider such a decision a significant provocation. He stressed that this would escalate tensions further, requiring a substantial response from Russia.
These comments came in response to discussions about the US potentially permitting Ukraine to launch long-range missile strikes within Russia. This potential policy change has been viewed by Moscow as a perilous overstepping of boundaries. Peskov downplayed the impact of advanced weaponry on altering the war’s trajectory, affirming Russia’s steadfast military goals.
Regarding American and European aid, Peskov pointed out that there is no single weapon that can provide a decisive advantage for Kyiv and that no single weapon can fundamentally alter events on the front lines. Peskov also warned against the approval of long-range strikes within Russian territory, noting that Russia would react and that the consequences would be serious. Despite this, Peskov reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to peace, however, cited the Ukrainian government as the main obstacle to a resolution.
