In an effort to boost self-employment and improve livelihoods, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Bihar’s Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana. The scheme saw the direct transfer of Rs 10,000 each to 75 lakh women beneficiaries, totaling Rs 7,500 crore. The program, spearheaded by the Bihar government, focuses on women’s empowerment through self-employment opportunities. It intends to offer financial support to one woman from each family, empowering them to engage in employment or livelihood activities of their choice. This support can be utilized in various sectors like agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, and small-scale businesses. The project will also include community-driven resources, such as training from Self Help Groups and the creation of Gramin Haat-Bazaars to assist in selling their products. A statewide launch program was organized across multiple administrative levels, involving over 1 crore women.
