Prior to the West Indies Test series, Yashasvi Jaiswal has garnered international recognition. TIME magazine, a leading American publication, has acknowledged the burgeoning talent of the Indian left-handed opening batsman by including him in the ‘100 Next’ list. This prestigious list recognizes 100 of the world’s most influential emerging figures. Jaiswal stands out as the only cricketer from India and, indeed, the only cricketer worldwide, to be selected.
The TIME 100 Next list is compiled from individuals worldwide who have made significant contributions across fields such as entertainment, sports, politics, and fashion. The selection process for TIME’s ‘100 Next’ list doesn’t impose age restrictions, focusing instead on the impact these individuals are making.
Among the athletes honored in the 2025 edition of TIME’s ‘100 Next’ list, five represent the world of sports. These include Lamine Yamal, a footballer; Paige Bueckers, a basketball player; Taylor Fritz, a tennis player; Geno Thitikul, a golfer; and Yashasvi Jaiswal, the cricketer.
