At a screening of the Chhattisgarhi film “Martyr King Guru Balkadas” held at Ambujamall cinema in Raipur, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai made a significant announcement. The event was attended by prominent figures including Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, Cabinet Minister Guru Khushwant Saheb, and several MLAs and community leaders. Chief Minister Sai praised the film, describing it as an exemplary display of courage and valor. He highlighted how Guru Balkadas stood against the injustices and starvation imposed on farmers by the British and Pindaris. Beyond this, Guru Balkadas worked to unite society, promote education, and foster social harmony. He opposed the British’s repressive policies, playing a crucial role in the freedom movement.
Chief Minister Sai declared that the film “Martyr King Guru Balkadas” will be tax-free throughout Chhattisgarh. This move is intended to enable a wider audience to view the inspiring narrative and connect with their historical roots and cultural legacy.
He further emphasized that Chhattisgarh has a rich legacy of heroes and saints. He underscored the importance of remembering the history of the state’s freedom fighters. The film successfully depicts Chhattisgarh’s role in the freedom struggle, its rich culture, social harmony, the resistance against the British, and the simplicity of life.
The Chief Minister recognized the dedication and talent within the Chhattisgarhi film industry. He applauded the hard work of the artists, directors, and crew, attributing the cinema’s success to their efforts. He also mentioned the state government’s plan to establish a film city, which he believes will provide better infrastructure, boost opportunities, and give the local cinema a national platform. This would subsequently support local talents and solidify the state’s cultural identity.
