YouTube, a Google subsidiary, has launched a new subscription tier in India called Premium Lite. The plan is available at a cost of ₹89 per month. Subscribers will get an ad-free experience while watching most videos. It’s important to note that this plan does not include features like YouTube Music, video downloads, and background playback.
With Premium Lite, users can enjoy videos without interruptions from advertisements, making it an economical option. This plan supports multiple devices, including smartphones, laptops, and televisions. However, it has some restrictions. Ads will remain on content related to music and on Shorts videos. Advertisements may also appear when searching or browsing content within the platform.
Compared to YouTube Premium, which is priced at ₹149 per month, the Lite version is significantly cheaper. The key difference is that Premium Lite solely eliminates video ads. YouTube Premium subscribers, on the other hand, receive access to YouTube Music, background playback capabilities, and the ability to download videos for offline viewing.
YouTube introduced Premium Lite in India to address the needs of viewers who primarily want to avoid advertisements while watching videos. It is believed that the pricing and features of Premium Lite will appeal to a significant portion of the Indian audience.
