The Chhattisgarh High Court commemorated its silver jubilee, with Governor Rame Deka as the chief guest. Governor Deka stated that courts must ensure justice is accessible to everyone, including the marginalized, to be truly effective within a democracy. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai reiterated the government’s dedication to providing timely justice, backed by infrastructure and resource allocation. The event also saw the release of a commemorative souvenir. The celebration, which took place on Saturday, commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. Governor Deka, Chief Minister Sai, and other dignitaries were felicitated with tokens of appreciation. The function was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, Finance Minister OP Chaudhary, Law Minister Gajendra Yadav, and former Governor Ramesh Bais.
Governor Deka expressed his honor at addressing the celebration, reflecting on the High Court’s establishment in November 2000, which coincided with the formation of Chhattisgarh as a new state. He highlighted the court’s role as a protector of civil rights and a guardian of justice. He also praised the court’s efforts in accelerating the resolution of pending cases. Chief Minister Sai highlighted the importance of the silver jubilee of the High Court and the Legislative Assembly, offering his congratulations on this auspicious occasion. He also paid tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, whose vision led to the establishment of the state and the High Court. The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to justice delivery and the budget increase for the Law and Legislative Department. He also mentioned the increasing interest in law careers among the youth.
Supreme Court Justice JK Maheshwari emphasized the importance of ethical conduct in the pursuit of justice, while Central Minister Tokhan Sahu acknowledged the High Court’s 25 years of service in upholding the constitution and democracy. High Court Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha delivered the welcome speech, recognizing the court’s accomplishments. Justice Sanjay K. Agrawal proposed the vote of thanks. The event was attended by a multitude of dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Ministers, ministers, judges, and legal professionals.
