A major investigation by the Mumbai Crime Branch has led to the arrest of Dilip Chaudhary from West Bengal, who is accused of attempting to extort Rs 1 crore from comedian Kapil Sharma. Chaudhary allegedly threatened Sharma’s close associate and demanded the sum, claiming association with the gangs of Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar. The Mumbai Crime Branch apprehended the suspect in West Bengal and brought him to Mumbai, where he was produced in court. The court has remanded Chaudhary to the custody of the Mumbai Crime Branch until September 30. Police are currently investigating the extent of Chaudhary’s connection to the named gangsters and the veracity of his claims. Several threatening calls and videos were reportedly sent between September 22nd and 23rd.
