Introduced in India in 2008, the Hyundai i20 has been a significant player in the hatchback market. The car has seen updates in 2014 and 2020. Known for its stylish appearance, high-quality interior, and variety of engine choices, the i20 is now gearing up for a generational upgrade. With sales in the small car segment experiencing a downturn, Hyundai is focusing on revitalizing the i20’s market performance. The fourth-generation i20 is undergoing testing and has been observed on the roads of Gurugram, Haryana. The 2026 Hyundai i20 will likely retain its core design identity but incorporate Hyundai’s latest design elements. This could include a new front design and updated alloy wheels, with the potential for new color options to be added. The interior of the new i20 is expected to feature a redesigned dashboard, possibly with a 10.2-inch dual TFT cluster. Hyundai is also expected to include features such as ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, and other premium options to improve the overall value of the car. The 2026 Hyundai i20 is expected to continue with the existing engine options. The next generation model will likely offer a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-liter diesel engine, and a variety of transmission choices. The sporty i20 N Line variant will continue to be offered with a 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine, combined with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. The new Hyundai i20’s price is expected to increase slightly from the current model, with the range likely to be between ₹6.87 lakh and ₹10.43 lakh (ex-showroom). The car is positioned to compete directly with the Maruti Baleno.
