September 27th is a landmark date for BSNL. Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia shared on X that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch BSNL’s home-grown 4G network. Scindia described the network as entirely made in India, cloud-based, and prepared for future advancements. The network is designed to be smoothly upgraded to 5G. The BSNL 4G stack will be deployed across 98,000 sites. The launch will be held in Jharsuguda, Odisha, with PM Modi presiding. India is set to join the ranks of nations like Sweden, Denmark, China, and South Korea as a telecom equipment manufacturer. A senior BSNL official mentioned that 5G services are slated to begin in major cities like Delhi and Mumbai in the near future. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is a key player in the BSNL 4G rollout. The core network was created by the Centre for Development of Telematics, and the Radio Access Network was provided by Tejas Networks, with TCS integrating the complete system. The Prime Minister will also launch a 100% 4G saturation network, connecting 29,000 to 30,000 villages and expanding digital connectivity to remote areas, thus creating opportunities in government services, healthcare, education, and job prospects. This indigenous 4G network represents a significant step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat, improving India’s global competitiveness and technological prowess. This initiative sets the stage for 5G and advanced technologies.
