Honda Cars India Limited has reached a significant milestone, having exported 200,000 vehicles, thereby showcasing its robust presence in the Indian automotive industry and the success of the Make-in-India program. This achievement is a testament to India’s manufacturing prowess and Honda’s global standards of quality and dependability. The company initially focused on exporting to SAARC countries like Nepal and Bhutan. By 2021, the first 50,000 units were shipped to SAARC, South Africa, and SADC nations. The export volume then surged, with the next 50,000 units being delivered to markets such as the Middle East, Mexico, and Turkey within two and a half years. A pivotal development was the export of the Honda Elevate, sold as the WR-V in Japan. This model contributed significantly, enabling the company to export an additional 100,000 units within just two years. The Honda City and Honda Elevate models have significantly contributed to the export numbers, making up about 78% of the total. The remaining exports comprise models such as Brio, Amaze, Jazz, BR-V, Mobilio, City e:HEV, Accord, and CR-V. Honda’s Made-in-India vehicles are currently present in 33 countries. Japan is the primary market, representing roughly 30% of the total exports. South Africa and SADC nations take up 26%, Mexico 19%, and Turkey 16%. The remaining 9% of the exports are distributed among the Middle East, SAARC countries, South America, and the Caribbean.
