Serious financial irregularity allegations have surfaced against Ladakhi activist Sonam Wangchuk. Concerns have been raised about potential misuse of funds and violations of financial regulations. The government is examining discrepancies related to his foreign funding, targeting his NGO and private institutions. Wangchuk is accused of using foreign funds for personal gain under the guise of a mass movement. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is expected to investigate SECMOL, Wangchuk’s NGO, focusing on potential violations of the FEMA Act. SECMOL is alleged to have failed to accurately report foreign donations and comply with the FCRA Act. The organization also faces accusations of not returning foreign funds. The Home Ministry has taken action, canceling Wangchuk’s FCRA registration, indicating a stricter approach.
