WhatsApp has become a favorite instant messaging app for good reason. The app offers a wide array of useful features designed to improve the user experience. These features aren’t just practical; WhatsApp also places a strong emphasis on user safety and privacy. Millions of users benefit from encrypted chats and several excellent privacy features within the app, one of which is the Status Privacy feature.
When sharing status updates, users often want to restrict who views them. Some users prefer to hide their status from colleagues, while others might choose to exclude family members or certain friends. To cater to this need, WhatsApp provides an impressive privacy setting that lets you control who can view your status.
How to set up Status Privacy:
When you are about to share a status, on the left side of the send button, you’ll see ‘Status’. Click on this option. After clicking this option, you will be presented with ‘Who Can See my Status Updates,’ which gives you three choices.
The first choice is ‘My Contacts,’ the second is ‘My Contacts Except,’ and the third is ‘Only Share with.’ If you want to hide your status from certain people, select the ‘My Contacts Except’ option and then click on the contacts you want to hide your status from.
This method is available when you are sharing a status. If you want to change the Status Privacy beforehand, first open WhatsApp. Then, click on the ‘Updates’ tab visible on the right side of the chats.
Here, you must click on the three dots in the top right corner. After clicking the three dots, you will find the status privacy option, from where you can change the settings before sharing your status.
