The Asia Cup 2025 has seen Pakistani players displaying questionable conduct. Following the gun celebration by Sahibzada Farhan after his fifty against India in the Super-4, and Haris Rauf’s unusual fielding gesture, another incident arose during the Sri Lanka match. A Pakistani player took things too far by imitating Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga. In response, Hasaranga publicly ridiculed Pakistan’s spinner Abrar Ahmed.
Abrar Ahmed imitated Wanindu Hasaranga. During the third Super-4 match of the Asia Cup 2025 between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, Pakistan won by 5 wickets. A moment occurred that caused embarrassment for Pakistan’s spinner, Abrar Ahmed. In the 13th over of Sri Lanka’s innings, Abrar Ahmed clean bowled Wanindu Hasaranga, following which he mimicked the Sri Lankan player.
Although Hasaranga remained silent at the time, he sought retribution when Pakistan began batting. Upon dismissing Sam Ayub, Hasaranga mimicked Abrar Ahmed, which led to the Pakistani spinner’s embarrassment. The video quickly gained traction on social media.
After the match, Abrar Ahmed and Wanindu Hasaranga embraced, settling any disagreements. Abrar Ahmed performed impressively in the match, taking one wicket for only 8 runs in 4 overs, while Hasaranga scored 15 runs off 13 balls and later claimed two wickets at a cost of 27 runs in 4 overs. Nonetheless, he was unable to secure victory for his team.
Sri Lanka, batting first, scored 133 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Pakistan then chased the target, losing 5 wickets in 18 overs.
