Akshay Kumar is a prominent actor in Bollywood, celebrated for the success he has achieved through his dedication. Before making his mark in acting, he worked various jobs, from teaching martial arts to assisting a photographer. The actor has discussed how he was influenced to consider acting. The turning point came when actor Govinda encouraged him to pursue a career in front of the camera. Kumar spoke about this on ‘The Anupam Kher Show.’
Kumar mentioned that he worked at a photography studio where he saw many famous actors. Govinda observed him during a photoshoot and commented on his appearance, suggesting he become an actor. He recalls Govinda saying, “You look good, why don’t you become a hero?” Initially surprised, Kumar reconsidered his career path after Govinda’s encouraging words. He began seeking opportunities, which eventually led to his breakthrough in Bollywood.
Kumar’s entry into the film industry was in 1987 with a brief appearance in Mahesh Bhatt’s film ‘Aaj.’ He landed his first leading role in ‘Saugandh’ in 1991, followed by ‘Dancer,’ but both films did not perform well. In 1992, ‘Khiladi’ was released, which was a major hit, establishing Kumar’s reputation. Following this, he delivered a series of successful films. Today, Akshay Kumar is one of Bollywood’s highest-paid actors.
