Irfan Pathan, the former Indian cricketer, delivered a strong rebuke to Pakistani cricketers Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan concerning their on-field celebrations, which he deemed inappropriate. India’s successive victories over Pakistan in the Asia Cup, first in the group stage and then in the Super Fours, did not appear to affect Pakistan, who seemed more interested in creating disturbances on the field.
The match featured multiple tense moments, involving Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf. Sahibzada Farhan’s gesture of simulating shooting with his bat and Haris Rauf’s gestures of a falling plane and a 6-0 scoreline were the center of controversy.
In response, Pathan, on his YouTube channel, sharply criticized the Pakistani players’ behavior. He contrasted it with the conduct of Indian cricketers, who let their performance speak for itself and maintained composure. He stated that if provoked, the Indian team will respond, irrespective of the opposition.
Pathan emphasized that India does not dwell on Pakistan’s defeats, such as their loss to Zimbabwe in the 2022 World Cup. He highlighted that India does not make a big deal out of the losses and focuses on the game.
He also mentioned that if Pakistan crosses a line, India would respond. He explained that Farhan’s actions, given the strained relations between the two nations, were uncalled for.
Pathan expressed disappointment in Haris Rauf, saying that he expected better behavior from the player based on previous encounters. Pathan concluded that the players’ actions revealed insights into their upbringing.
