The initial trial run for Thane Metro Line 4 and its extension, Line 4A, has been successfully executed. The test covered a 10-kilometer section from Cadbury Junction to Kasarvadavali in Thane, with key government figures in attendance. The project is designed to shorten travel times across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The completion of the trials was confirmed by the Chief Minister, who projected a daily ridership of 13 to 14 lakh passengers. The Mumbai Metro Line 4 is a 32.32 km elevated corridor, integrating 30 stations. It will provide connectivity to existing infrastructure. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) anticipates the metro line will provide improved rail access to commercial hubs and governmental institutions. The reduction in travel time is estimated to be between 50% and 75%. Metro Line 4A, a 2.7 km elevated segment, will extend the existing line and further enhance travel efficiency. The Thane Metro project is set to benefit numerous daily commuters, especially those traveling to work or educational institutions, by providing quicker and more budget-friendly transport solutions. The metro line’s completion is projected for 2026, according to the Chief Minister.
