A fierce encounter unfolded in Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh, resulting in the deaths of two Maoists. The security forces recovered the bodies of the Naxals, along with an AK-47 assault rifle, additional weaponry, and substantial explosive materials. The incident stemmed from intelligence indicating a large gathering of Maoists in the Abujhmad region, which straddles the border of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, where they were reportedly planning an attack. Acting on the intelligence, security forces initiated a search operation. The Naxals initiated the gunfire, which was met with a counteroffensive from the security personnel. The exchange of fire led to the deaths of the two Maoists. The ongoing encounter is marked by sporadic gunfire. Besides the recovered bodies, an AK-47 rifle, other arms, a large stash of explosives, Maoist propaganda, and essential supplies were also found. The search operation is still in progress. Further details will be released after the operation concludes. In related news, the Narayanpur police, in a successful operation on September 20, destroyed a Naxal memorial in Otherbeda and Wattekel villages. The memorial, constructed to honor Naxals killed in a past clash, was targeted to counter the Naxals’ efforts to instill fear and spread their ideology among villagers.
