During a video conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the recent GST reforms, which are designed to reduce costs for consumers and stimulate economic growth. He explained that the reduction in GST rates would make essential goods like housing, vehicles, and household items more affordable, effectively launching a ‘GST Bachat Utsav’ across the nation. Modi described the reforms as crucial to achieving Aatmanirbhar Bharat and fostering inclusive growth. He emphasized that these changes would enable citizens to fulfill personal aspirations more easily, from buying homes and electronics to acquiring vehicles. He further stated that travel expenses would decrease due to reduced GST on hotel rooms. The Prime Minister commended shopkeepers for readily implementing the GST reductions and passing the benefits to consumers. He noted that price comparisons were being displayed prominently to demonstrate the savings. Modi also extended greetings for Navratri, linking the occasion to the nation’s progress in the Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign. With the implementation of the Next Generation GST reforms, starting September 22, the GST Bachat Utsav seeks to boost savings and ease the purchase of desired items.
