Following the Indian team’s decision not to shake hands with the Pakistani team, the PCB raised concerns with the ICC, bringing match referee Andy Pycroft into the discussion. Mohammad Azharuddin, a former Indian cricketer, offered his thoughts on the matter during NDTV’s Asia Cup coverage. He argued that there was no issue with the players shaking hands. He noted that when competing, players should fully embrace all aspects of the game, including the traditional handshake. Azharuddin expressed his lack of understanding regarding the situation and felt it was unnecessary. He further stated that if a team intends to protest, then they shouldn’t play in the first place. The next India versus Pakistan match will be held on September 21 at the Dubai International Stadium, during the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2025.
