Bangladesh overcame Sri Lanka in a thrilling Super-4 match of the Asia Cup 2025, handing Sri Lanka their first defeat in the tournament. Bangladesh’s victory also served as a payback for their earlier loss in the league stage. Even after losing three wickets in the last eight balls, Bangladesh managed to win the match by four wickets. Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka played a dynamic innings, scoring a half-century and taking two wickets, however, the efforts were not enough to stop Bangladesh’s win.
Chasing a target of 169 runs, Bangladesh reached the target in 19.5 overs, losing six wickets. Saif Hassan, the opening batsman for Bangladesh, played a remarkable innings. He and captain Litton Das put up 59 runs for the second wicket. Litton Das scored 23 runs off 16 balls with the help of 3 fours. Saif scored 61 runs from 45 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes.
Towhid Hridoy scored 58 runs from 37 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. In the final over of Bangladesh’s innings, Dasun Shanaka took two wickets, making the match exciting, but Sri Lanka could not secure the victory. Wanindu Hasaranga and Dasun Shanaka each took two wickets for Sri Lanka. Nuwan Thushara and Dushmantha Chameera each took a wicket. Previously, Dasun Shanaka’s outstanding performance helped Sri Lanka reach 168 runs.
