Following a tip-off, the Chatra and Hazaribagh police forces took action, resulting in an encounter that led to the death of Uttam Yadav, a notorious criminal. Uttam was hit by bullets in his chest, stomach, and thigh during the encounter, resulting in his immediate death. The body of the criminal, Uttam, has been taken to Chatra Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem, which is expected to be performed later in the night. Uttam Yadav was also accused of running a criminal organization called the Tiger Group.
Uttam Yadav had openly challenged the authorities in June, appearing in a video with an AK-47, threatening contractors and business people in the Hazaribagh and Chatra districts, and demanding extortion payments. He warned of severe repercussions for those who refused to comply. Furthermore, Uttam Yadav claimed responsibility for the shooting at a jewelry store in the Sadar police station area of Hazaribagh district, Jharkhand, on June 22. The video of Uttam Yadav went viral on social media, causing him to become a topic of discussion among the police, business owners, and the general public.
Uttam Yadav was wanted in several serious criminal cases across various districts of Jharkhand, including murder, robbery, and extortion. The police had been actively looking for him. The Chatra and Hazaribagh police forces, acting on intelligence, set up a blockade on the Bagra-Jabra road under the Simaria police station area to arrest him. Uttam Yadav then fired at the police team. In response, the police opened fire, which resulted in Uttam Yadav’s death.
Prior to this event, in March 2025, Aman Sahu, a notorious gangster, was killed in an encounter in the Palamu district of Jharkhand. Aman Sahu assaulted the police team in Palamu and tried to escape after taking an INSAS rifle from the police officers. Police retaliated, resulting in the death of Aman Sahu.
