Following a car stunt incident on Masturi Road, the court has taken a stern stance, criticizing the police’s handling of the situation and ordering that 18 seized vehicles remain impounded until authorized by the court. The Chief Justice, Ramesh Sinha, expressed dismay over the police’s approach, highlighting a perceived bias where action is primarily taken against the underprivileged while influential individuals receive preferential treatment. The court questioned the lack of rigorous enforcement against those whose reckless actions endanger others, emphasizing the need for stringent measures against such offenders. The court has scheduled a hearing on September 23, 2025, and directed the Chief Secretary of the Chhattisgarh government to provide an affidavit about the actions taken against the offenders involved in the case. The incident involved young men performing stunts from their vehicles, causing traffic congestion and endangering other road users.
