AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has targeted the Modi administration over the new H-1B visa regulations implemented by the Trump administration, which include a substantial annual fee. Owaisi’s criticism focused on the perceived failures of Indian foreign policy and its impact on Indian citizens, especially those from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He noted that Indians receive a large percentage of H-1B visas, particularly those in the tech sector. He pointed out the contributions that remittances from these workers make to India’s economy. Owaisi argued that the government should have achieved more from events like ‘Howdy Modi’ and ‘Namaste Trump’. He framed Trump’s actions as detrimental to the Indian diaspora and questioned India’s strategic partnership with the US. Furthermore, Owaisi brought attention to India’s deteriorating global position and advocated for stronger responses, such as expanding rupee-based trade, to counteract negative impacts on the Indian population.
