The Indian government has declared that Mohanlal, a South Indian superstar, will be honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2025. This prestigious award marks a high point in the actor’s career, recognizing his significant contributions to cinema. Mohanlal has not only achieved success in South Indian cinema but has also made a mark in Hindi films, attracting a wide audience. He began his film career at the age of 18, though his initial role in the 1978 film ‘Thiranottam’ was small. The film’s release was delayed due to censorship issues. His breakthrough came with the 1980 film ‘Manjil Virinja Pookkal,’ which catapulted him to fame and became a box-office hit. Following this, he delivered numerous impressive performances.
1986 was a standout year for Mohanlal’s career. He starred in 34 films that year in Malayalam cinema. At the age of 26, this was a remarkable achievement, significantly boosting his reputation. Impressively, 25 of those 34 films were commercially successful. In that year, a new film featuring him was released approximately every two weeks. Besides acting, Mohanlal has also earned recognition as a filmmaker. His stature in the Malayalam film industry is substantial. Discussing his personal life, Mohanlal was born to Viswanathan Nair and Santha Kumari in Elathur, Pathanamthitta district. His father was a government lawyer. He developed an interest in acting during his school days. In sixth grade, he won the Best Actor award for his performance. He entered the acting world after graduating and experienced success.
